it for about 3 years. Yesterday I got an email from BT saying that if I dont agree to paying them 拢1.50 a month they will disscontinue my email address! This is so typical of BT trying to make on every little thing. What can I do to stop them taking my email address apart from paying them the 拢1.50 a month which I refuse to pay on principl. I have spent thopusands with BT over the years.............I am very angry, it will be a right pain in the back side to email everyone with a new address please help...............
I recently chenged my broadband supplier from BT to Sky. I am still using the BT email address as I have had?
I'm afraid you don't have much to stand on here. You paid for a service for a long time, but now you don't. There's no reason for them to continue providing service to you when you're no longer a customer.
They have given you some grace period to continue using the account during your transition, and now they're letting you know that your time is up.
I hate to take the corporate side on this, but it's a pretty standard arrangement.
If you want free permanent email, check out Google, Yahoo, Hotmail... Then you pick one address once, and done.
I haven't used an email account from an ISP of mine in at least 7 years, for just that reason. I don't want to have to change email accounts and addresses every time I change ISPs.
Good luck!

How doI close an old BT email address please?
I have an old BT Openworld email address - which I only access through Mail2web. I hate to leave it collecting spamn, but don't know how to close it down.
Help please anyone?
How doI close an old BT email address please?
If u want to close your BT Openworld account completely then visit http://www.btopenworldbenefits.com/close...
Otherwise send them a request at
http://www.btopenworld.com/mail
Alternatively, if u wish to keep ur options open then opt for a workaround: go to that account via webmail, set up a filter that forward ALL incoming mail to the DELETE folder (or delete permanently an future incoming mail). This way, u could re-instate this email account one day should u change ur mind. I did somethng similar, a year later the junk mail have been reduced a substantial amount n the account became usable again.
.
Reply:If it is part of a dial up internet you no longer use it should be automatically closed down after a period of time of not being used.
You could contact BT and ask them to close it down but if you never use it then there should be no problem in leaving it collecting spam.
Reply:Probably not very helpful, but try phoning them. I'm sure there's a way.

Can I use a laptop web cam to see people I email on bt internet? If not, what do I need to get?
I would like to speak to friends over the internet and see them on a web cam. Which programme do I need and which is the best web cam to buy? My son says I can only do this via MSN but we have bt internet, is this OK too? Many thanks for your help.
Can I use a laptop web cam to see people I email on bt internet? If not, what do I need to get?
You don't need a webcam to see them. You only need one to for them to see you.
You can use many chat programs to view someone on cam. MSN, Yahoo messenger, AOL and lots of others.

If I change from bt (phone line) to Virgin (optical cable) can I still use my existing bt Yahoo email service ?
I am at the end of the line as far as distance from my exchange is concerned and on checking can only expect (at best) 0.5Mbps - I am lucky if my actual speed reaches 100 kbps - six hours to download 90 minutes of video from bbc - even intermittent reception on radio.
If I change from bt (phone line) to Virgin (optical cable) can I still use my existing bt Yahoo email service ?
Should be no problem. Yahoo mail is internet-based; you can access it from any PC, worldwide.

BT is my broadband provider but I want to use my non BT Yahoo email. How do I do it?
BT is linked to Yahoo so I now have a BTYahoo account which I don't want to use. I've tried logging straight to Yahoo but the BT log in is carried forward from when I dialled up for my internet connection. Any ideas?
BT is my broadband provider but I want to use my non BT Yahoo email. How do I do it?
You could go to http://uk.yahoo.com and just sign in as a new user to a free Yahoo account on the web. Then you can access your e-mails anywhere, on any computer.
Reply:make sure your bt yahoo email isnt remembered on your internet or it will carry over. go to the yahoo homepage and type in your email as normal once it isnt remembered and it should be fine (im gathering its not the same name you used).
bt can not carry your email id from btyahoo to plain yahoo without it being remembered on your pc as it could help with fraudulant email usage for example you use it then hubby goes onto normal yahoo.
never keep your email remembered its not worth the risks.

How to keep your BT email address?
I am moving abroad in about 2 weeks and my BT Internet connection will expire then. I understand that I will loose my extra mail accounts, but can I keep the main email address because I have emails from about 6 years in my folders.? After all it is merged with Yahoo. Do I have to pay to keep my account?
How to keep your BT email address?
unfortunatley you wouldnt be able to keep the email address that belongs to bt. has you were using bt services that came free of charge. but you unable to keep it as it is isp domain.
if you had used a msn or hotmail address than you could have kept it.

How can I access my Microsoft Outlook emails on my BT Internet email account?
I have set-up outlook on my computer some time ago. I have linked it with my email address but when email come they always transfer over to the Outlook email system. I would like to change it so that both get the emails and hence I can access them wherever I am.
How can I access my Microsoft Outlook emails on my BT Internet email account?
There is an option in Outlook to not empty the mail from the server when it is downloaded. You will have to manually remove the e-mails from the server to keep them from piling up.
Read this from Help
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outloo...
Reply:You can access your BT Yahoo emails online, but if Outlook is set to delete downloaded emails from the server then obviously they will not appear online after you download them in Outlook. You should be able to change this setting in Outlook preferences to not delete downloaded emails from the server. They will then remain in your BT Yahoo email account online until you log in and delete them manually.

Can I keep my BT email addresses if I change my broadband to another ISP?
I don't see any reason why not !
Unless your email address is linked to your BT account in some way, and they delete it when you change, you can simply log in through another ISP.
Can I keep my BT email addresses if I change my broadband to another ISP?
I would not recommend to keep it . i had a similar problem. bt keeps it only open for a certain amount of time ,and then ,one day it,is gone . along with all your contacts and no warning. retrieval is impossible. just open an independent e mail account with yahoo , and transfer all your contacts to the new account . send all your contacts the new address, and sleep a lot better for it.
Reply:Most Providers now delete you if you move away from that company, they have tightened up their systems. So get another E-mail provider ASAP when you decide to move providers. Yahoo or Google will give you a E-mail address and you can keep that as long as you wish.

What happens to my BT internet email account if I cancel my BT phone and broadband?
I have a @btinternet.com email address that was given to me when I signed up for BT broadband. I'm thinking of cancelling my broadband, will I lose my btinternet email address and email account?
What happens to my BT internet email account if I cancel my BT phone and broadband?
You may be able to transfer your BT service to the BT Premium Email service, which would allow you keep using your email address (at the cost of 拢1.50 a month) while using another ISP.
wait 7 days and then call up 0870 241 4567 (Billing department for BT e-mail) and ask them to change to account to a BT Yahoo! Premium Account
Reply:I just did this today. My mother moved from BT to TalkTalk and the next time I logged into BT email I got a message saying there were new limits imposed, from what I remember this was 1GB email storage, 4 sub accounts, plus a couple of other things.
There was no mention of suspending / cancelling / or charging.
Reply:BT will close your account down and you will loose your email address
Reply:Most likely yes, email your internet provider and ask.
It variates.
Reply:Give yourself an Yahoo email address and inform all your contacts of your new one.
Reply:Mine didnt get suspended for about 6 months. But with Bt you never know.
Reply:it gets suspended,!!

How do I find my bt primary email address given at the ordering of my broadband package?
I want to access the bt vault ,but my sign on says please give the primary email given when you opened your broadband account, that was 3 years ago and i don,t know it ,how do i find it
How do I find my bt primary email address given at the ordering of my broadband package?
I know 3 years is a long time, but do you not keep such emails in a special folder? I always set up a folder called Passwords into which I save all such emails. However, just contact BT they will ask for your name, present email address, and the answer to the question, such as mother's maiden name, that you always have to put down in such events and they will either give it to you or allocate another password.

Can I cancel my main BT email address without leaving BT?
I get 300 spams a day to my main BT email address. None to other yahoo email addresses,so I want to delete my main BT account address. Yahoo does putthe 300 into spam but I still have to check the spam box in case an important email gets into spam.

Can I transfer one of my BT email accounts to another BT Internet user?
I had set up an account for a friend who now has his own BT Broadband setup and want to transfer the account over to him without loss of service. Thanks.
Can I transfer one of my BT email accounts to another BT Internet user?
Not possible
Reply:Even if I could, that is one procedure that I would NEVER, NEVER even contemplate doing. Think about it for a minute - YOUR account being used by somebody else?? You would be leaving yourself wide open to future problems. The individual may be a good friend now but how can you be certain that will continue?
No matter how well you think you know somebody, never do anything for them that might have the slightest repercussions back to you if it all goes sour!!

Is it possible to use my BT email address through Outlook Express. I often need to do documents through Word?
As a teacher I often do lengthy documents through Word than need emailing to staff. Usually I do it through adding it as an attachment. Could someone please explain in lay man terms how Outlook express works and how to set it up. I am baffled. Idiots guide would be most welcome as I don't understand some of the questions ?.
Thanks
Is it possible to use my BT email address through Outlook Express. I often need to do documents through Word?
Quite simple actually - go into Outlook Express, then click on Tools, then Accounts. Click on "Add" - it will then ask you for your name; this is the name that tags itself to your email address when you send email. Then it will ask for your email address from BT - type it in including the extension i.e. btinternet.com, btclick.com etc. Then you will be faced with a screen that asks for both your POP3 (Post Office Protocol) server name and SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) which is effectively the receiving and sending addresses respectively. Excluding quotes, type the following into the POP3 box "mail.btinternet.com" and the same into the SMTP box, then it should have automatically picked up your username from the first part of your email address, you then simply enter the password for that address.
Then click on "Additional Settings" - there should be a tick box saying "My server requires Authentication" - click on that and then click "OK" as it automatically configures it with the same username and password that you originally had. Thereafter, your email should be now working.
Once you have set this up correctly, you can both receive and send your BT mail through Outlook Express.
Hope I have been of help.
Steve
Reply:I'm not sure about setting up OE - as previous responder said, it depends on POP3 etc. However, using OE may not improve matters.
Using OE, you would still need to attach the Word documents to your email, so I'm not sure why you want to pursue this route. Also, using OE for email ties you to a specific computer, whereas using the web to access your email (as you seem to imply) means you can get at it anywhere - OK, a different computer will not give you access to the original word document.
Perhaps you need to rephrase the question. Maybe it's a problem more of attaching and downloading. How do you currently access/use email ?
Reply:It all depends if your Internet Service Provider, uses an IMAP, or POP3 email server.
Contact your ISP...
Thanks

How do I import my email contacts from a former provider to my new bt email?
I changed to BT Total Broadband yesterday and now wish to tell my contacts my new email address and telephone number.
I am hoping there is a way to do this without individual entries iin my empty address book. Can your help?
How do I import my email contacts from a former provider to my new bt email?
First of all you will need to export a file from your old contacts. Save the file as a tab deliminated txt file.
You should be able to import this file into an email program or webmail account (Hotmail, Yahoo etc) which will now contain your email addresses.
Reply:idk but I really need 2 more points
